Catherine Capon meets Dr Rachel Graham
When it comes to saving sharks from extinction, perhaps many people can’t see the need. If you’ve seen Jaws, you might have developed a lifelong fear of these ocean dwelling creatures. However, even Peter Benchley (the writer of Jaws) dedicated his latter years to shark conservation and here’s why:
Sharks have been swimming in the world’s oceans for more than 400 million years; 100 million years before the dinosaurs!
But today, shark populations are being decimated by commercial fishing
Each year, humans kill more than 100 million sharks worldwide and this includes the tens of millions of sharks that are caught annually for their fins - one of the world’s most expensive seafood products.
But...

Saving the Jaguars of Brazil - Catherine Capon meets Mario Haberfeld
Просмотров 7634 года назад
When the news is full of upsetting stories about wildlife, it's important to share the conservation successes as well. I've been lucky enough to have met some of the most inspiring people over the years who have dedicated their lives to saving species from extinction. One such person is Mario Haberfeld. Please watch this film to see how Mario is helping to save the jaguars of Brazil through eco...

You might have seen on my social media that I'm on a mission in 2019 to make my lifestyle the greenest possible. I can't bang on about conservation and climate change unless I get my own house in order. So I'm busy swapping items (when they run out) for more eco options and meeting brands that are trying to do better for our planet. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Kresse Wesling, founde...

Walking with Wolves in Norway
Просмотров 36 тыс.6 лет назад
Meeting the resident pack of socialised wolves at Wolf Lodge Norway was an experience I will never forget. There are so few apex predators in Europe now due to conflict with humans, that most people will never see them in the wild. It’s easy then to embellish tales of ‘savage beasts’ without knowing their true nature. Wild wolves are very shy animals and attacks on humans are extremely uncommon...

Wild Tiger Safari in India

If your dream is to see a tiger in the wild then your best chance is to visit Ranthambhore National Park in the dry season (just make sure that you book at least 6 months in advance). You need to be patient though as not every safari results in a sighting but that makes it all the ...

    The tiger is ochre and black stripes not orange and black. The tiger was so well camouflaged in nature by creation. But your natural eyes were well camouflaged with your dress too. Good you enjoyed your rare sighting.

    It is disgusting how they exploit and show off these animals like they are commodities. This is all about ego and money and these people have no incentive to return these animals to the wild. The longer they keep them dependent and the more videos they can make, the more money they make for their own personal bank accounts. This is disgusting, disgraceful and immoral!!

    • @Mary_Thompson

      Orangutans aren't weaned until about 8 years of age by their mothers in the wild, they aren't starting puberty until around 11 years of age, and they aren't fully grown adults until their late teens, almost two decades old. These babies in this video are about one or one-and-a-half years old, still needing diapers and drinking milk. They cannot be released for more than a decade. Releasing them now would be like abandoning a human baby who is one or two.

    • @kendrahansen1175
      @kendrahansen1175 Год назад

      @@Mary_Thompson First of all, I never said they needed to release helpless animals into the forest. However, the frauds who made this video are poachers or promote poaching so that they can have a steady stream of these animals. For those older ones that don't get dumped or killed, they keep them as breeders so, again, there are more babies to exploit, show off and/or sell as pets. Don't kid yourself. These disgusting people are criminals and they need to be prosecuted under the FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!

      @@kendrahansen1175 I agree that, whenever there is an opportunity for corruption, some wicked people will take advantage of that. Nevertheless, I don't know which of the employees of this orangutan orphanage you're accusing, or if you mean all of the employees of this one or all of the employees at all of the orangutan orphanages. There must be some innocent employees at some of these orangutan orphanages.

    • @tsunami770
      @tsunami770 Год назад

      You have a point there but they are dying so fast due to Palm oil deforestation that we don't have the time to argue and they claim to be doing something. The population is so low that they estimate the extinction of wild Orangutans in 5 to 10 years

    • @kendrahansen1175
      @kendrahansen1175 Год назад

      @@tsunami770 Yes, I agree and it is so sad that this particular animal has two very destructive forces (habitat loss and poaching) that are just devastating the population. Even if the animals are protected and rehabilitated by the few legitimate rescue organizations, it is of little benefit if there is no forest for them to return to. And, yes, the estimate is now extinction in five to ten years. Just a few years ago the estimate was 20 years. That is just outrageous and infuriating!

What we call Indian mainland politics policy We assam have world largest population number of one horn rhino's in here more than 3000 pluse highest density also... N name goes to India 🤔🤔🤔🤔 In India have only 1400 tiger but name goes to bangal..? Wow what a mindset In Assam state logo is a one horn rhino's Assam regiment(Indian army) logo is a assam one horn rhino's Even in India n internationally only assam use one horn rhino's logo... But name goes to India..? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Nathing personal but we shear our feelings.... In those 100 year We save them day n night We Protect them 24 hours We accept as a family member of our state We recognised as a assam state symbols n identity N name goes to India wow 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I really don't understand this logic If a tiger name goes to bangal then why not a rhino's name goes to there native place assam.. Why why why WWF#.. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
